Francisco Tavoni uses photography as a way to interpretate the power of emotions. He conceives of the production of self and identity as processes can happen inside the body instead of outside of it, there is no advantage of external mode. Tavoni insists that true identity is formed in this territory, deep within oneself, where no external norms apply.
Born in Venezuela, Tavoni travels the globe in search of authenticity identity, across a variety of body types, without distinction, ethnicity or broader cultural background. In Tavoni’s image, figures covered by delicate fabrics are unfettered status restrictions. With artist’s unique light technique, light is absorbed to reveal the inner pattern of the fabric. Tavoni’s work has been exhibited internationally at the ATM Galleryy in New York, Lindberg Galleries, Melbourne; Adhesivo Contemporary, Mexico City; Nassima Landau Foundation, Tel Aviv.
"Human beings are subject to many external influences that can corrupt what happens inside inside" - Francisco Tavoni.
