Anna Zorina Gallery is pleased to present Szaweł Płóciennik’s inaugural exhibition with the gallery titled Dr. Feel and Mr. AI. The show marks Płóciennik’s New York solo debut and features his latest series that explores the complex relationship between human nature and artificial intelligence. The paintings illustrate an investigation into the impact of technology on aspects of our human nature such as our emotions, relationships, and identity.

With each painting, Płóciennik reimagines a reality centered on the marriage of algorithm and allegory. His works are populated with surreal figures that appear to be in the process of forming into humanoid beings with characteristics that are simultaneously geological and animalistic as if rendered under an overarching concept of nature. The subjects seem to be in constant flux, capturing a person’s ability to ever shift into the social atmosphere. This important capability is one shared by Artificial Intelligence, the faculty to seemingly develop a persona and even a sense of sentiency as a vital means of adapting to existence within the external social world. The rapid advancement of technology has brought about a fundamental change in the way we interact with the world around us. With his enigmatic, vivid paintings, the artist represents the human soul when faced with implications of our increasing reliance on technology and the resulting shifts in our perception of reality
